River of Art Festival to light up the south coast

The River of Art Festival will be back bigger than ever in 2022 with an exciting program of events over two huge weekends in September.

The Festival will host a diverse range of arts, music and performances from 16 to 25 September, concluding with a spectacular laser and light show called Luminous: Art After Dark on 24th September.

Luminous: Art After Dark will feature an internationally recognised show set to music with vivid colours and imagery erupting over the beautiful Moruya River.

Festivities will be complemented by an artisans and local produce marketplace, performing artists including street performers and live bands, themed feature lights throughout the parkland and a kids zone.

Luminous will be held from 3.00pm to 9.00pm on 24 September and provide a colourful and fun focal point in the heart of the Eurobodalla to close the Festival. It will celebrate place, and highlight the rich creative arts offering and produce of the region.

‘We were devastated to have to cancel last year’s Festival due to COVID-19 lockdowns’, said River of Art Chair Leanne Joyce.

‘Whilst we were able to showcase artists and performers online – there’s nothing like the joy of live entertainment, feasting on local produce and celebrating arts and culture with friends and family.’

Ms Joyce said that thanks to support from the NSW Government, Federal Government and Hallmark Funding from the Eurobodalla Shire Council, the 2022 Festival will feature world class events that will appeal to the south coast community as well as visitors across Australia.

‘The Festival will ensure the South Coast region is clearly on the map as a destination for its vibrant arts and culture, key events, fantastic local produce, and its natural beauty.’

With just four months to go before the Festival kicks off, expressions of interest are now sought from visual artists, performers and musicians as well as business and community groups who want to be part of the festival program. Information and EOI forms are on the River of Art website

The River of Art Festival is funded under the NSW Regional Events Acceleration Fund, Festivals Australia, and the Eurobodalla Shire Council.
