Join us in welcoming the ladies of Plastic Fantastic to the Luminous line-up, all set for September 23!
This group of glowing, translucent, luminous ladies known as “Plastic Fantastic” will move about the Showground, spreading light where ever they go.
Lead by international choreographer Elise May and The Distaffik Collective’s Deb Cleland, Plastic Fantastic is a community-based roving promenade performance with evocative self-lit costumes made entirely of post-consumer recycled materials. The project explores the themes of packaging, identity and consumer culture, bringing together artists of all ages.
Elise May is a professional dancer, choreographer and video artist with two decades of experience. She has performed, created works and facilitated workshops in both Australia and overseas, working internationally and in Australia as an independent artist and performer. Deb Cleland is an activist, artist and academic, who works with in interactive theatre and games, site-specific place making, and creative non-fiction, bringing her research into social justice, inclusion and sustainability to life through writing and performance.
This free event is included in general admission entry at Luminous: Celebrating Place, September 23 at Moruya Showground from 4pm to 9pm. Children under 16 enter with with a ticketed adult.
Plastic Fantastic is part of Project Alchemy, a series of cross disciplinary arts projects to build community connection across south-east Australia.
Project Alchemy, delivered by Rebus Theatre (ACT) is funded through the Australian Government for the Black Summer Bushfire Grant Program.
