For many years my art practice has centred on printmaking, etching being my preferred medium. I source an image from something seen, as the work progresses it develops its’ own life. I explore the permutations, each variation questions representation, perception and, of course, the artist’s role in making it. I enjoy process, it helps me to think and respond intuitively.
My imagery originates in recording the natural environment of the south coast where I live. Mostly avoiding a pictorial depiction of scenery, the work explores the integration of micro details of natural forms with broad unifying patterns of the landscape.
