We are pleased to announce that the entry deadline for the River of Art Festival has been extended.
Due to popular demand and to ensure that everyone has ample time to showcase their creativity, we are now accepting submissions until 30 August 2024.
Whether you’re an emerging artist or an established one, we encourage you to take advantage of this extended period to perfect your pieces and submit your entries. Options can range from open studios, exhibitions, workshops, performances or works in shopfronts.
This is a fantastic opportunity to share your work with a larger audience and be a part of an incredible event celebrating art and creativity. But the earlier you get your entry in, the more we can showcase the talent of the NSW South Coast.

Immerse yourself in Barunguba, an enthralling performance by the Djaddjawan Dancers, with shows on both 4 and 5 October at Batemans Bay. Barunguba is a story of healing and resilience, centering around a terrible tragedy involving the First People from Noorooma and Barunguba/Montague Island. This unique performance showcases the age-old tradition of storytelling in a vibrant, contemporary setting. Don’t miss this extraordinary fusion of culture and innovation.
This special show builds on the River of Art’s experience in showcasing the latest in digital arts while sharing a significant local story as an integral part of the Festival.
River of Art Prize – two weeks to deadline!
Get your entry in for the 2024 River of Art Prize by 8 August 2024 and showcase your artistic talents to a broad and appreciative audience whilst competing for this prestigious award.
This competition provides a platform to present your work alongside other creative minds. By participating, you gain visibility among art enthusiasts, critics, and potential buyers, enhancing your professional network and opening doors to new opportunities. Whether you’re an emerging artist or an established name, the Art Prize is a significant step in advancing your artistic career and sharing your vision with the world.
The Prize offers a platform for artists to portray any vision or subject and can cross all mediums from painting, watercolour, mixed media, pencil or sculpture and photography.
Friday 27 September from 5pm will see the announcement of the prize winners and marks the official opening of the festival. Thanks to our partners at the Narooma School of Arts for their generous support in hosting the Prize.
The total prize pool is $5,500.00, a first prize of $3,500 is awarded to the artist of the winning work, the runner up is awarded $1,500 and highly commended works awarded $500. In addition the River of Art has a People’s Choice award.
Entries close on Thursday August 8 and can be lodged via the online application form.

Entries for the Flash Fiction Competition close 1 August 2024
Shake off the Winter blues and unleash your imagination with a 500-word entry to the SCWC + River of Art Festival Flash Fiction Competition!
Eurobodalla means ‘land of many waters’. Include the theme or words ‘many waters’ in your work and be creative!
The winner will receive a $500 prize and all shortlisted entries will be invited to read their works at the River of Art Festival, where the winner will be announced. The winning and runner-up entries will also be published in the 2024 SCWC Anthology of Writing.

Mogo Festival Day – Sunday 6 October
Mogo Festival Day will be held on Sunday 6 October. This thriving town, rich in history and culture, will transform into a vibrant hub of arts events, music, and celebrations. Enjoy local bands, while galleries and pop-up art installations showcase the creativity of regional talents. Local artisans and cafes add to the festive atmosphere, offering unique crafts and delicious treats that celebrate the area’s heritage. Mogo Festival Day truly captures the spirit of community and joy, making it a standout event in the South Coast’s bustling festival season.
