Julie Mia Holmes | Printmaker

Moruya

Julie Mia Holmes is a lover of the natural world, particularly all things marine. She lives in Moruya Heads on the South Coast, regularly fossicking the shoreline for flotsam and jetsam. She is interested in exploring human disconnection and dislocation from the natural environment through different forms of printmaking, predominately etching and linocut. She has also been known to ferret about with embroidery and sculpture from recycled materials.

Julie studied Printmaking and Drawing with Honours at the ANU’s School of Art in Canberra and has since exhibited in solo and group shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Fremantle, Adelaide and Queenscliff. She has been a finalist in the Fremantle Arts Centre Print Award, the Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize, Peebles Print Prize and the Basil Sellers Art Prize, twice. She also makes a mean guacamole.
