We will play with images from the River of Art Prize exhibition to serve as inspiration, to write about in vivid detail, play with images to write something a little differently. You will leave the workshop with a piece of writing that you can take away to refine, to enter the River of Art short fiction and poetry competition.
In the workshops, there will be a short definition of, and discussion about, ekphrastic (art) writing. The facilitator, Linda Godfrey, will talk about the River of Art writing competition, then the group will walk to the gallery to view images to inspire your writing.
We will come back to the space, the facilitator will guide the group through a few writing exercises, then the participants will begin work on their writing piece, whether short fiction or poetry for the competition. There is plenty of time for writing and discussion during the workshop.
