With this year’s River of Art Festival scheduled to start in six weeks, South Coast artists are urged to enter their work in this year’s festival art prize.
Working within COVID restrictions, the festival’s art prize will again be a highlight of Eurobodalla’s annual celebration of the region’s rich artistic life. This year’s theme for the festival is Resilience and Renewal to reflect the region’s response to the bushfires and now the pandemic.
The winning artist will receive $2,000 with $250 going to the runner up. The artwork most highly commended will be awarded $100. Finalists will be selected by a panel of judges comprising three well-known professional artists.
The award ceremony will be held at Narooma’s SoART Gallery where all finalists will be exhibited. Digital images of finalists’ work will also be exhibited online.
Given COVID restrictions on galleries, digital images of the work of artists whose work was not shortlisted will also be exhibited in an online Salon de Refusés on the River of Art website.
Both exhibitions at SoART and online will run for the duration of this year’s festival, from 18 September through to 27 September 2020.
Artists have until August 21 to submit their entries electronically via the online application form which can be found on the festival’s website, www.riverofart.com.au.
Alternatively, download the online application form, complete your details, scan and email it (including digital images) to email@example.com. The cost of entry is $25 per work.
Now in its 15th year and despite limitations on what it can stage because of COVID-19, this year’s River of Art Festival will include favourites such Open Studios, exhibitions and Art on Parade. The final program will be available on the river of art website later this month.
