Before Water was painted during a period in which I translated the visual complexity of Nature by following the rhythms and patterns within the subject before me, here estuary life: trees stand before the still waters of the river.

As a painter I ask myself: How can I bring my subjective impression of a landscape into pictorial form? How do I bring about a resonating poetic centre which might make it possible for the ineffable to enter the mundane? The value of art has nothing to do with aesthetics but lies in these transpositions, the pathways of which cannot be learned.

Visitors are welcome to visit my Broulee Studio on Sunday 5th October, from 10 to 4.
