My career of teaching Design technology for 30 years has added to my strong sense of design. A late Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2012 was my formal art training. I have discovered a unique form of creating assemblages that cross between 3-D and 2 -D. I use wood pieces that have been somewhere, were part of a greater whole and then discarded, the materials, nevertheless retain the honesty of their previous lives.
By overlapping layers, I have created new shapes and new dimensional planes. My chosen colours strengthen the effects of dimensionality. Shadows are created as the work stands away from the wall and reinforce the mix of layers.I include hand printing on some works and connect with Japanese aesthetics. I enjoy a sustainable practice as I reuse discarded frames, wood and paints.
