Originally completed a Diploma in Visual Art at the Canberra School of Art, Daniel has been a wood fired specialist for approximately forty years. His production studio Bandicoot Pottery is an educational facility with a number of wood fired kilns established in 1990.
Daniel was featured on the ABC Two Faces of Fire ArtWorks documentary in 2021 and has actively exhibited as a part of the Australian wood fired community for forty years including Clay Gulgong, Kerrie Lowe Gallery, Monsalvat, Belconnen Arts Centre and received the South East Arts prize at Sculpture Bermagui 2022 and 2026.
He is an enthusiastic wood fire specialist because he enjoys the process – packing and firing with a group of potters fostering a sense of a community. It’s a collaboration through the lengthy firing process that encourages a deep appreciation of wood firing.
